Marriage and Money

I don't know, maybe I'm being really naive when i say this.. or maybe it is because i've never been married yet, but I truly do believe that you can have a happy marriage even with hopeless financial difficulties.

I think when two people come together to love eachother and commit to one another.... and are able to find their full satisfaction in God... when the husband and wife both have faith that their Father God would feed and clothe them... if they are able to say "why worry when you're Father God loves you and will take care of you? REJOICE!" to all of their problems.... I really do believe that marriages can work even without all that money.

It is only when money becomes the source of security that marriages fail. When you believe that happiness comes from money, of course your world will crumble when it is scarce. Money is just pieces of paper that i feel buys people more harm than good. Money brings you power? No, it gives you the exact opposite. It tricks you into feeling powerful but in the end, you've only become a slave to something that could disappear at the blink of an eye.

When money is controlling your happiness, security, comfort, you've lost yourself.

Dear God,

so many marriages are being broken all around me. I see so many scars in the hearts of my friends and loved ones. God, helps us to realize that money is nothing that should control us or make us fearful. Lord you are the only one we should fear. You are far more powerful than all the money in the world. You are the God of this entire universe, even money. Lord all the money in the world can't buy love or salvation. Father! Please help us to realize that! I pray for all the husband and wives that are being ripped apart. All the families that are torn and in pain. God would you restore their hearts and renew their broken lives. Lord allow them to find new hope is something that is constant and unconditional. Allow them to find new hope in something that is free and already paid through the blood of your son. Lord help us to see YOU. Help us to find out full satisfaction, joy, security, comfort, in YOU. Free us from the chains and slavery of money. Help us to find freedom in your Gospel lord. I want to pray especially for my family lord. I just don't know anymore. I'm on my knees and i cannot comprehend this anymore. Lord, i lift it up to you and i trust that you will have your way and that it will be best. Help my family and i to be faithful to that Lord. I also want to pray for my future husband and marriage. i pray that i will be reminded of this prayer if we are ever to be in desperate financial situations. Lord, help me and my husband to be joyful throughout those times. Help us to be able to comfort one another through the Gospel. Help us to be different from marriages that run on money. We want to run on your promises Lord.
