Today was my FIRST day at Moffet Elementary School for my practicum! I was a bit nervous at first but I'm really excited for this semester :)
Oh but before i write about today, let me just say that I had the most frustrating time shopping last night. So i needed some "teacher pants" and i looked everywhere on walnut and chestnut but could not find ANY that FIT. For what kind of people do these designers make these pants ?!?! You have to have SUPER long legs. TINY waist & the PERFECT booty. I just don't understand :(
Anyway, back to today! I was assigned to a First Grade classroom but the teacher ( who is new to the school) was running late. Her alarm clockS did not go off so she couldn't come on time. As soon as I heard that, I got that nervous yucky feeling because i could TOTALLY see that happening to me. I felt her pain & i kind of felt closer to her because of it. HAHA
Just for today, I got to observe a 2nd grade class instead and it was very interesting. The teacher was GREAT. Her classroom management skills were off the shizzay. There was one girl who kept waving at me, mouthing, "DO YOU REMEMBER ME!!!???". I had NO idea who she was. I shook me head the first time but when she wouldn't stop after the 30420348th time, I just smiled. HAHA. There was also another girl who asked me, "Are you Ms.Lee?", so I responded, "no, i'm sorry." Was I suppose to feel offended that they thought I was the same asian teacher they had the previous semester? Mmm not sure, but I thought it was just super cute.
My favorite part of the day however was the morning announcements. As soon as I heard the 3 test taps on the microphone, a felt a chill down my back. It brought back SO many memories of grade school and I couldn't believe that I was all grown up & back, prepping to become a TEACHER. Time really does FLY.
Today was my last official day with my Sabrina Mintz. She is a girl that goes to the preschool I work for. I met her 2 years ago, my first day of work. . Such a small chubby precious little bundle of joy (literally). You know when babies have really chubby arms so it almost looks like they have rubber bands in the middle of the wrist&elbow and elbow&shoulder?! Well she had those adorable little folds. HUGE brown eyes. & the cutest raspy voice a little girl could EVER have. I also had her sister Isabella. She's such a cutie as well. Their youngest sister Gabriella, don't even have words to describe that one! I cannot believe it's already been 2 years since i've met them..
Her mom speaks spanish to her, so she knows a few words in spanish. (If yall never knew, I LOVE spanish. I love the latin american culture, food, language, dance, music, you name it, even men. HAHA) so of course every chance I get I try to sneak in a bit of spanish to my brina. I remember one time during nap, she told me something about her "culo" as she shook her tush in the air. I texted daekyu (this was before we were dating) and asked him what it was, he answered "um.. why? It means a'butt' ". HAHA During snack, I would aways ask her (sometimes 4-5 times a day) "quieres mas agua" becuase I would just get SUCH a kick out of her raspy "mas agua", it seriously made the worst days the best :)
My dear Sabrina! I will miss you SO much. It was such a joy watching you grow over the last 2 years. I wish you the best & only the best my dear! Thank you for the smiles :)
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me such a great school & co-op teacher! Although it may not be a christian school or small group, help me to somehow show them your love! I don't want to be just an ordinary teacher, Lord! I want to be different. I want to not only teach them academics but I want to LOVE them & share with them what you have given me even if it may not be through obvious ways. Fill me! Use me! Mold me! Lord, I also pray for Sabrina. I pray that she will adjust well to her new school & that if she doesn't already, someday she will come to know you & love you. I love you so much father!
Love, your daughter Sharon
